My artwork ‘paradise’ is inspired by my infinite love and admiration for the majestic black cockatoo. I find comfort in their pleasant screeches often gazing up to find their beautiful outstretched wings gliding across the sky. This piece was inspired during one of my visits to Lake Conjola on the South Coast of NSW, a spot that I frequent regularly. This particular location is surrounded by Banksia trees overlooking Green Island and sometimes late in the afternoon the Banksias are filled with Black Cockatoos. These rare encounters have very much influenced my art practice. Through bold colours and expressive brushstrokes, I aim to reflect both the beauty of the landscape and the presence of these incredible birds.
